Whether you are a lifelong resident like me who has watched our city evolve into the great community it is, or someone who made the personal choice to live in Tempe and take advantage of our lifestyle and high quality of life, we share a common pride in our city.

While it seems the partisan bickering in Washington, at the State Capitol, and in neighboring communities results in little being accomplished, Tempe has had stable political leadership. I am my colleagues have shown we can disagree, without being disagreeable. And that has contributed not only to good government, but to the strength of our community.

For the past four years, in perhaps the most difficult and challenging economic times in our lifetime, I have worked to keep Tempe strong.

Tempe has the solid foundation any community needs.

Although a single crime is one crime too many, we are a safe community, with a crime rate now at historical lows.

We provide efficient and reliable public services. Its easy to take for granted the investments we have made in our roads and transportation system and infrastructure of our community until water or sewer service is interrupted, as is too often the case in other communities.

Our parks system is first rate. You and I both know that. But we also know that because through citizen surveys, people tell us so.

Our schools are among the best in the state appropriate for a community with a world class university.

Our Bond rating is AAA, which is actually now higher than that of our Federal government.

My efforts have and will continue to focus on our neighborhoods. As well it should. Because is reality, every great city is built upon the strength of its individual neighborhoods.

As a parent, firefighter, community activist, and for the past four years, the high honor of representing you as a member of City Council, preserving and strengthening our neighborhoods has been my focus. And that's why I am seeking your support to return to City Council for another term---to strengthen and preserve our neighborhoods.

Sincerely,
